Torontonians looking to stay active this fall can start planning now. The City of Toronto released its fall recreation program listings on August 24, giving residents a chance to browse thousands of courses before registering.
The listings cover a wide range of interests, from fitness and sports to arts and dance, according to a City of Toronto news release.
All activities are posted on the City's Fall Recreation Activities webpage, and residents can register online through the City's registration portal.
What's on offer
The City describes itself as Toronto's largest provider of recreation activities for people of all ages and interests. This fall, it is offering approximately 16,000 registered courses with more than 148,000 spaces.
Options include swimming, arts and crafts, sports, yoga, fitness, skating, music, games and more.
How to register
Residents can sign up in one of three ways: online, by phone at 416-396-7378, or in person at designated locations. Full details on how to register are available on the City's website.
The City says programs can fill up quickly, so anyone hoping to land a spot in a popular class should be ready when registration opens.
Wait lists and withdrawals
If a program is full, residents can add themselves to a wait list. When a spot becomes available, the next person on the list receives an email invitation.
Those invitations expire after 36 hours, and unclaimed spots are offered to the next person on the list. Because of that short window, the City is asking residents to keep the email address on their registration account up to date and to check their inbox regularly.
Residents who sign up but can no longer attend are being asked to withdraw as soon as possible so someone on the wait list can take the spot.
The fall listings arrive as Torontonians head into the season when indoor programming picks up, and with a menu that spans preschool-aged swimmers to seniors' fitness classes, the City is encouraging residents of every age to try something new.
