Toronto FC picked up three points at home Saturday evening, beating the New England Revolution 2-1 at BMO Field behind a first goal for the club from German midfielder Niklas Dorsch.

The win moved the Reds' record to 4-7-8 on the 2026 MLS season, good for 20 points, while New England, who came in with 30 points at 9-7-3, left empty-handed.

According to Toronto FC's match recap, head coach Robin Fraser made two changes to the lineup that faced New York City FC two weeks earlier, with Benjamín Kuscevic and Markus Cimermancic replacing Kobe Franklin and Jonathan Osorio. Kuscevic's start was his first for the Reds since April 25 after returning from an injury lay-off.

The visitors threatened early, forcing goalkeeper Luka Gavran into a save to deny Peyton Miller's bicycle kick in the fifth minute.

Goals in first-half stoppage time

Toronto broke through just before the interval. Djordje Mihailovic found Theo Corbeanu in space on the right, and the Canadian winger's effort deflected off New England defender Will Sands and into the net.

The lead doubled eight minutes later, still in first-half stoppage time. Dániel Sallói picked out Mihailovic at the top of the box, and the midfielder laid the ball off to Dorsch, who struck a powerful, curling shot past Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner and into the top corner.

The goal was Dorsch's first for Toronto FC since he joined the club from 1. FC Heidenheim on July 28. It was also Mihailovic's fifth goal contribution of the 2026 MLS season, with two goals and three assists, while Sallói moved to 10 contributions on the year with four goals and six assists.

Reds hold on with 10 men

New England pressed for a way back after the break, with Richie Laryea and Josh Sargent making crucial blocks in quick succession to keep the visitors off the scoresheet.

Toronto's task grew harder in the 76th minute when Mihailovic was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Carles Gil, reducing the home side to 10 men.

New England finally pulled one back in the 90th minute through substitute Wilson Harris, who headed home Jack Harrison's cross.

But the Reds' defence held firm through the closing stages to deny the Revolution an equalizer and seal the 2-1 victory.
