Toronto FC hit the road this week for a midweek clash with the New England Revolution, travelling to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts for a Wednesday evening kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET.
According to a Toronto FC preview, the Matchday 17 contest will be broadcast globally in English and Spanish on Apple TV, and on TSN4 and RDS in Canada.
The Reds head into the match at 3W-6L-6T, sitting on 15 points in the 2026 MLS campaign. New England enters in stronger form at 8W-5L-1T with 25 points.
Recent history favours a tight contest
Wednesday marks the 44th regular season meeting between the two clubs, with Toronto holding an all-time record of 12 wins, 17 losses and 14 draws across the first 43 encounters.
Toronto has fared reasonably well in recent visits to Massachusetts, picking up three wins and three draws over its last seven trips to Gillette Stadium dating back to August 2019. The club is still searching for its first road victory over the Revolution since March 2024, when Lorenzo Insigne's late goal secured all three points.
The Reds are coming off a hard-fought 0-0 draw against rivals CF Montréal at Stade Saputo last Thursday, their first match after the FIFA World Cup 26 break. Goalkeeper Luka Gavran made three saves to record his second clean sheet of the season and secure a point in Quebec.
The match also saw winger Theo Corbeanu return from injury to make his first start since last October's 2025 season finale against Orlando City SC, while attacking midfielder Djordje Mihailovic came off the bench in the 74th minute for his first appearance since March. Canadian forward Jules-Anthony Vilsaint made his 50th MLS appearance on the night, split between CF Montréal and Toronto FC.
Homegrown defender signs first-team deal
The club announced the signing of 18-year-old defender Richard Chukwu to an MLS contract as a Homegrown player last Thursday, running through the 2029-30 season with a club option for 2030-31. Chukwu is the 38th player in club history to sign for the first team from the Toronto FC Academy.
The left-footed defender joined the academy in January 2020 and has represented Canada at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels since 2022, including two FIFA U-17 World Cups. He earned a call-up to a Canadian men's national team training camp under head coach Jesse Marsch in November 2024 at just 16 years old, and later served as captain for Canada at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
Three Reds named to Canadian U-20 squad
Chukwu, along with Toronto FC II midfielder Antone Bossenberry and academy midfielder Tim Fortier, was officially named to Canada's squad for the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship last Friday.
The tournament runs from July 24 to Aug. 9 in Mexico and serves as direct qualification for both the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Canada opens its group stage against Panama on July 26, then faces Honduras on July 29 and Jamaica on Aug. 1.
Away from MLS regular season play, Toronto FC's all-time road record stands at 58 wins, 176 losses and 80 draws for 254 points.
